// House rules

The rules.

Welcome to Randy O Summer League. These are our house rules — they sit on top of regular basketball rules everyone knows. The big idea: play hard, respect each other, have fun. When in doubt, the ref's call stands.

01Format & schedule.

Schedule: Mondays through Thursdays, 8pm-10pm. Two games a night. Each team plays 14 regular-season games. Game length: Four 10-minute quarters. The clock runs except in the final two minutes of the 1st and 2nd halves — then it stops on whistles. Shot clock: None. 5-second closely guarted rule applies. Overtime: 3-minute periods. After one OT, Next basket wins. Rosters: 8 teams of 10 players. Captains can lock in up to 4 players before draft day. Everyone else gets drafted at open gym on June 1st. Players who are eligible for the draft but don't show up for draft night, will be drafted after all other players are selected.

02Fouls & techs.

Fouls per player: 5 personal fouls and you're out for the rest of the game. Take a seat — your team will need you next week. Team fouls: After 7 team fouls in a half, the other team shoots one free throw plus a chance at a second (the bonus). After 10, they shoot two. Technical fouls: Two techs in one game and you're done for the night. Pile them up across the season and you sit out games — 4 techs = one-game suspension, 6 = two games. Flagrant fouls: Hard-and-dirty foul = two free throws plus the ball. Really dirty = ejected, plus a one-game suspension, or ejection from the league afer tape is reviewed (depending upon severity)

03How we play.

Respect the refs. Their call stands. If you disagree, say it calmly or sit down. Yelling at refs gets you a tech. No fighting. None. If you fight, you're out for the season and your fee doesn't come back. We're here to play, not throw down. Show up on time. If a team can't put 5 players on the floor by the 10-minute mark, the other team wins by forfeit. Pay up. $5 hold reserves your spot — it's not refundable. The full $300 is due before your first game.

04All-Star Game and 3-Point Contests.

The All-Star Game will consist of 2 players from each team.3-point contest — Solo (3 shots from 5 spots behind the arc) — most shots made wins.3-point Contest — 2-Person Timed (1 made shot from each of the 5 spots beyond the arc, then teammate does the same) — best time wins.
